The villa sits above the lagoon with a private pool on the deck, direct steps into the water, and Alila's understated design signature: clean lines, natural materials, and open sightlines to the sea. Alila Kothaifaru is an all-pool-villa property, so every unit on the island has its own pool, and the resort is built around a healthy house reef in one of the quieter corners of the Maldives.
Breakfast and dinner are included daily. The three dining rooms cover different moods: Seasalt for all-day Mediterranean with Middle Eastern touches, Umami for Japanese teppan cooking, and Mirus Bar for cocktails built around the region's old spice-trade ingredients.
Day by day itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and overwater welcome
Land at Velana International Airport and transfer to the Alila Kothaifaru seaplane lounge for the 45-minute flight north to Raa Atoll. The seaplane lands at the resort's own platform, and you're at the villa a few minutes later. Settle in, get in the pool, and have dinner at the resort. Wi-Fi and villa host service are on from arrival.
Day 2: Wellness and lagoon time
Start with breakfast, then take one of the scheduled Alila wellness sessions, part of the resort's own programme and included in the stay. The rest of the day is unstructured. Snorkel the house reef with complimentary gear, use the 24-hour fitness centre or the library, or don't move. Dinner is included.
Day 3: Dolphin cruise and photoshoot
Head out on the complimentary dolphin-watching cruise, subject to the resort's schedule, weather, and a minimum group size of six guests. Some time during the stay, take your 30-minute professional photoshoot on the beach or overwater deck. One printed photo is included with the session. Additional digital images and full photo packages are available at the resort's own rates.
Day 4: Last breakfast and departure
Enjoy your final breakfast and a slow morning at the villa. When you're ready, the seaplane back to Velana International Airport is scheduled and included.
