It offers breathtaking panoramic views of the entire city set against the backdrop of the Trans-Ili Alatau mountains. You can reach the summit via a scenic cable car ride that starts right in the city center. At the top, you'll find a small amusement park, souvenir shops, restaurants, and even a monument dedicated to The Beatles.
Ascension Cathedral (Zenkov Cathedral)
Located in the beautiful Panfilov Park, this colourful wooden Orthodox cathedral is one of the most unique sights in the world. Built entirely out of wood without using a single nail (based on a complex Russian joinery system), it miraculously survived the devastating 1911 earthquake.
